Our Mission, Vision, and Values
Mission
Humanities Kansas connects Kansans with stories, ideas, and each other to strengthen our communities.
Vision
We envision Kansas energized by people engaging with diverse histories, literatures, and cultures – sharing stories that inspire, sparking conversations that inform, and inviting new insights to strengthen our communities.
Values
- Community
We commit to the exchange of ideas to inspire new bonds among Kansans, strengthen existing ties, and boost civic participation. - Engagement
We encourage Kansans to tell their unique stories – and the stories of their communities - and to listen actively to those told by others. We seek new ways to integrate the humanities more fully in our communities. - Equity
We work towards fairness and amplify underheard stories. - Openness
We expand our network and reflect today’s Kansans and their communities. We welcome new ideas, engage with fresh perspectives, and increase access to HK resources. - Partnerships
We grow and sustain meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships with Kansans, communities, and organizations. - Stewardship
We manage and distribute financial resources and programming opportunities in transparent and effective ways. We use our assets to do good things.
