Jane Holwerda, Speaker

Retired professor of writing and literature at Dodge City Community College

Out of the Dust: Literature of the 1930s

The experiences of the Great Depression and Dust Bowl inspired classic works of American literature, most notably John Steinbeck’s “The Grapes of Wrath.” This interactive presentation examines some of the decade’s works, both famous and lesser known, and how authors responded to this defining moment in American history.
